Leading financial institutions, Fintech companies, and Latvian and European financial industry associations opens application opportunities for the international Fintech hackathon “OpenFin Hack”, which aims to promote innovation to make financial services more secure, inclusive and accessible.
The OpenFin Hack hackathon will take place online from 9 to 13 April. Participants will also be able to meet in person at a networking event on the final day in Riga.
The hackathon is open to new idea authors and early-stage startup teams. Industry expert support and assistance will be available to create innovative financial solutions together.
The total prize fund for the OpenFin Hack hackathon is 5000 euros.

The OpenFin Hack hackathon will seek solutions in six financial industry areas: crowdfunding, fraud detection and prevention, blockchain solutions, data analytics, personalised financial services and financial literacy.

As part of OpenFin Hack, four introductory events are organised so that anyone interested can get a deeper understanding of current trends in the fintech industry before the hackathon.
The first event will take place on March 12 and will be dedicated to analysing trends in the fintech industry and current industry regulations.
The second event will occur on March 19 and focus on technologies used in the financial industry, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and cloud services.
The third event will take place on March 26, focusing on Fintech startup stories and giving an investor perspective about what’s important when attracting funding for Fintech startups.
The last event will take place a week before the hackathon, on April 2, and will take a closer look at the hackathon topics and challenges.
The OpenFin Hack Warm-up Events will be held online. They will be streamed live on Delfi and the innovation community Windhacker’s social media accounts.
The OpenFin Hack hackathon is supported by a wide range of partners, including DelfinGroup, Gravity Team, Accenture, drill., PixelPai, the Bank of Latvia, the European Banking Authority, JeffApp, KPMG, EDFA, Tenity, Fintech Latvia Association, and many more.
The hackathon is organised by the WindHackers innovation community, which aims to promote interdisciplinary cooperation and the development of innovative and technology-based business ideas.
